"Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak
Where the wild things are |
So the book was "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. I had no idea about what this book is all about and I was so astonished to find out that it was a children's book and that too very compact. So I headed to Kindle store and searched for it and got it as part of "Picture book collection for kids part II". It was an anticlimax for my quest for finding an exciting book to read until I started really reading it.
It had 4 picture books within it:
- The Lorax by Dr. Seuss
- If you give a mouse a cookie by Laura Numeroff
- Where the wild things are by Maurice Sendak
- Walter the farting dog by William Kotzwinkle and Glenn Murray
All the books are very well written and would bring smile to anyone's face. I really liked the rhyming in "The Lorax" and the message it carries through it is really heart touching.
If you give a mouse a cookie is a story which ends where it began and definitely makes you smile but it is one of the story which is open for people's own interpretation as well.
Where the wild things are is a story about a boy who is angry and is made to sleep without eating and his imaginary world. Again, as it happens with the children books, there are multiple interpretations and you can find few of them here.
Walter the farting dog is a funny story about a dog who farts a lot. Though it doesn't have much of a message but kids do enjoy quirky topics.
You can also find all these on youtube as well:
